A 45-year-old man, Mr. Yaw Badu, popularly known as Emuede-wu, has reportedly died in police premises under disturbing circumstances at Manso Datano in the Ashanti Region.
Mr. Badu, who was a landlord in the community, was arrested by officers from the Manso Datano Police Station on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, following a misunderstanding with one of his tenants.
The deceased remained in custody until his reported death on Thursday, June 20.
According to Madam Becky, a sister of the deceased, her brother was allegedly assaulted by police officers while in custody.
“I saw with my own eyes as the police beat my brother yesterday,” she claimed in an emotional interview with www.kumasimail.com
She further revealed that Mr. Badu was granted bail early Thursday morning after paying GH¢1,500.00. However, shortly after being released, he collapsed and died, raising serious concerns about the treatment he received while in police custody.
Family members are demanding a full investigation into the incident, alleging police brutality.
The incident has sparked outrage among residents of Manso Datano, who are calling for justice and accountability.
Police is yet to speak on the issue.
