President John Dramani Mahama has reaffirmed his government’s commitment to improving healthcare and welfare for military personnel and their families.
Speaking at the Ghana Military Academy on April 11, he emphasized the importance of completing and equipping the Kumasi Military Hospital at Afari in the Central Command.
He said “Soldiers and civilian staff, your health is also a priority. We have a viable vision to upgrade your medical health facilities. We will, therefore, complete and equip the Kumasi Military Hospital at Afari in the Central Command”.
Additionally, he announced plans for a military hospital in Tamale to ensure quality healthcare access for military families.
“We have also budgeted for a military field hospital in Tamale. We want you and your families to have access to quality health care”, he stated.
The President’s remarks were met with applause from the audience, which included high-ranking military officials, government representatives, and families of the graduating cadets.
President Mahama also outlined efforts to enhance working conditions, ensure fair compensation, and provide timely retirement benefits for both active and retired personnel.
He emphasized that GEHOC will play a key role in financing the Ghana Armed Forces.
“Dear military personnel and civilian staff, I am determined to systematically improve your conditions of service. GEHOC will be one of our key plants in providing sustainable financing for the Ghana Armed Forces. Your sacrifices deserve recognition”
President Mahama also highlighted his government’s commitment to ensuring that retirement benefits for veterans are paid promptly.
He noted “For our retired personnel who have sacrificed so much for our nation, we will ensure that your retirement benefits are paid promptly”.
