The economic hardship in Ghana has taken a twist on the teeming unemployed female youth who are now engaging in illicit sex businesses for material things.
A former political scientist with the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), has disclosed on Ezra Adekye3 Morning Show the youth have turned whores for a compelling reason such as the economic downturn.
“These days because of high cost of living of goods and services even mobile phones, ladies are offering themselves for sex in exchange. It’s bezzy and uncontrollable in the youth”, Dr. Richard Amoako Baah revealed to Aduanaba Kofi Asante Enning , the interviewer.
The alarming trend highlights the need for urgent attention of the government to address the root causes of poverty and create sustainable employments for people.
“The situation is heartbreaking,” said Aduanaba Kofi Asante Enning, the interviewer. “We need to come together to find solutions and provide alternatives for these young women.”
Dr. Amoako Baah emphasized the importance of economic empowerment programs, access to education and job training, microfinance initiatives, and social services to help alleviate the desperation driving this trend.
