EC can’t be trusted despite assurance to conduct transparent election- Elvis Afriyie Ankrah

National Democratic Congress (NDC) insists it will not back down on its planned demonstration despite explanations and assurances from the Electoral Commission (EC).

Former National director of elections of the Party Elvis Afriyie – Ankrah has stated that his party cannot buy the explanations offered by the Electoral Commission over anomalies found in the 2024 provisional voters’ register.

On September 17 the party is descending on all offices of the Electoral Commission in a nationwide protest to demand a full integrity audit of the voters register.

The party cites among other things abnormally high figures in the transfer list and the illegal transfer of electorates without their consent.

The Electoral Commission has explained that the list contained all voters who have taken advantage of the transfer process since 2020 and has launched investigations into the illegal transfers.

Elvis Afriyie Ankrah however insists the party will not back down until the Electoral Commission takes steps to produce a robust register that can be trusted.
