The Ashanti Regional Security Council (RECSEC) has announced a series of urgent measures to tackle the increasing attacks on Mobile Money (MoMo) vendors in the region.
This follows an emergency meeting convened by RECSEC to address the growing security concerns.
In a statement issued by the Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, the council revealed that a bounty has been placed on individuals providing credible information leading to the arrest of suspects involved in the attacks.
As part of efforts to enhance security, law enforcement agencies will be redeployed to improve police visibility and ensure public safety.
Additionally, MoMo vendors will undergo a safety workshop aimed at educating them on precautionary measures to protect their businesses.
RECSEC has also resolved to intensify its crackdown on unregistered motorcycles, which have been linked to criminal activities in the region.
The recent surge in attacks on MoMo vendors has raised alarm among business operators and the general public, prompting calls for stricter security interventions.
Authorities urge citizens to cooperate with law enforcement by reporting suspicious activities to help combat crime effectively.
