Mohammed Abdul-Salam, Director-General of the National Lottery Authority (NLA), has marked one year in office, highlighting governance reforms, operational efficiency and digital transformation as key achievements under his leadership.
Mr. Abdul-Salam, one of the first appointees of President John Dramani Mahama in 2025, said the past year had been focused on repositioning the NLA as a credible and reliable revenue mobilisation institution in line with the government’s reset agenda.
In a message posted on his Facebook page on Saturday, he described the anniversary as “a year of learning, responsibility and service,” adding that he did not “take a single day for granted.”
“Over the past year, we have worked deliberately to strengthen governance, improve operational efficiency and modernise the Authority,” he stated.
According to him, management has prioritised transparency, revenue assurance and stakeholder engagement, while laying the groundwork for digital transformation and innovation across NLA systems.
“The goal has been clear: to build a stronger, more credible NLA that delivers value to the state and contributes meaningfully to national development,” Mr. Abdul-Salam said.
The NLA is one of the country’s key state institutions for domestic revenue mobilisation, contributing to government funding for development programmes and social interventions.
Mr. Abdul-Salam expressed appreciation to President Mahama for the opportunity to serve, describing his appointment as “a privilege to contribute to the work of nation building.”
“I remain sincerely thankful to His Excellency the President for the confidence and honour to serve in this capacity,” he said, pledging to continue to serve “with integrity, diligence and a deep sense of public duty.”
As he enters his second year in office, the NLA Director-General said his focus remains on doing more for the Authority and the country, while seeking “continued guidance and wisdom” in the task ahead.
