During his swearing-in speech on 7 January 2025, President John Dramani Mahama highlighted the mutual respect he has always shared with his predecessor, Nana Akufo-Addo.
Reflecting on the peaceful transition of power, President Mahama expressed gratitude for the democratic maturity displayed by Ghana’s political leadership, emphasising the country’s commitment to upholding its democratic values.
In his address, President Mahama acknowledged the contributions of former President Akufo-Addo to the nation, recognising the former leader’s role in the country’s development during his tenure.
He further noted that their relationship, characterised by respect and collaboration, has always been centred around the betterment of Ghana and its people, regardless of political differences.
“Throughout our respective tenures, Nana Akufo-Addo and I have always shared a deep mutual respect for one another, focused on what is best for Ghana and its people.”
The President took the opportunity to reaffirm his commitment to continue fostering unity, cooperation, and national development during his second term in office.
He assured Ghanaians that his leadership would focus on inclusivity, striving to create opportunities for every citizen and addressing key challenges, particularly in the areas of economic recovery and governance.
