Archbishop Nicholas Duncan-Williams, General Overseer of the United Denominations of Action Chapel International, has called on middle-aged men to prioritize their prostate health, emphasizing the life-saving importance of early detection and regular medical check-ups.
Speaking at Action Chapel during the 31st all-night service on December 31, 2024, the Archbishop shared his personal journey, revealing how timely medical intervention helped him overcome prostate cancer. Prostate cancer remains a leading cause of death among Black men, making his message particularly poignant.
Addressing the congregation during the crossover service into 2025, he stressed the necessity of proactive health measures, especially for men over 40.
“If you are 40 or older, make it a priority to check your prostate regularly—every three to six months if possible,” he urged. “Prostate issues are one of the leading causes of death among Black men. I can even recommend places where you can get help. They saved my life, and I’ve seen others benefit as well.”
Reflecting on his own experience, Duncan-Williams underscored the significance of acting swiftly. “Had I not done the checkup when I did, I wouldn’t be standing here today. Early detection cut the issue off before it could worsen.”
His testimony resonated with the congregation, inspiring them to adopt healthier lifestyles and seek timely medical care. The Archbishop’s appeal serves as a reminder for middle-aged men to take their health seriously as they step into the New Year.
