The Chairman of Asaase Broadcasting Company (ABC) Ltd, Gabby Asare Otchere Darko, has confirmed the temporary shutdown of Asaase Radio, the company’s flagship station.
The announcement was made via his official Facebook page on Thursday, June 12, 2025.
In his statement, Mr. Darko revealed that the closure stems from a delay in renewing the station’s broadcasting license.
“Yes, it’s true. Asaase Radio, which celebrates its 5th anniversary this Saturday, has been shut down,” he wrote.
According to the chairman, the station was required to renew its license by October 2024 but only completed the process in December 2024, leading to regulatory action.
Gabby emphasized “GM informs me it’s because the station delayed in renewing its licence last year. It was to be renewed by October but only done in December 2024.”
Despite the suspension of its terrestrial broadcast, Asaase Radio will continue to operate online, ensuring its audience can still access content digitally.
Mr. Darko reassured listeners, stating, “We are online until then.”
