In a vibrant and historic ceremony, Nana Adwoa Afranewaa III, formerly known as Janet Adwoa Pinamang Adu, has been enstooled by Asantehene as the new Queen Mother of Offinso, marking a significant new chapter for the Offinso Traditional Area.
The ceremony, attended by dignitaries including the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Offinso Manhene, Asante Hemaa and members of the Offinso Traditional Council solidified Nana Adwoa Afranewaa’s position as the revered Queen Mother.
Prior to her enstoolment, Nana Adwoa Afranewaa had established herself as a successful businesswoman, recognized for her entrepreneurial expertise and dedication to community service. As a member of the Offinso Royal Family, she brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to her new role as Queen Mother.
Following her official introduction to Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, she received the royal blessings of the Asante Hemaa, formally solidifying her position as the revered Offinsohemaa.
This development follows the destoolment of Nana Ama Serwaa Nyarko, the previous Queen Mother, by Otumfuo Osei Tutu II on January 11, 2024, due to gross insubordination. Her removal marked a historic first, as she became the initial traditional leader to be destooled by the occupant of the Golden Stool in 2024.
The stool had remained vacant since the passing of Nana Wiafe Akenten III on October 2, 2021. Controversy arose when Nana Ama Serwaa Nyarko failed to nominate a suitable royal to occupy the stool, prompting Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II to advise Offinsohene Nana Dwamena Akenteng II to find a new queen mother to support his reign.
