The Ashanti Regional Central Police Command has begun investigations into a fatal shooting that occurred on the evening of Tuesday, July 22, 2025, at Asawase F-Line in the Ashanti Region.
According to a statement signed by DSP Godwin Ahianyo, Head of the Public Affairs Unit of the Regional Police Command, preliminary investigations indicate that a middle-aged man was shot at close range by two unidentified assailants.
The suspects, each riding a motorbike, reportedly approached the victim and opened fire before fleeing the scene.
The victim was initially rushed to the Manhyia District Hospital and later transferred to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
His body has been deposited at the Ebenezer Mortuary in Tafo for autopsy.
Following the incident, the Ashanti Regional Police Commander, DCOP Emmanuel Teye-Cudjoe, the Regional Crime Officer, ACP Ebenezer Boyor, and a team of officers visited the crime scene. During their inspection, two empty shells believed to have been fired from an AK‑47 assault rifle were recovered and documented.
The Regional Police Command has assured the public that all efforts are being made to track down and apprehend the perpetrators.
