The Ashanti Regional Health Directorate has concluded a one-day tour of health facilities in the Ejura-Sekyedumase Municipality.
the facility inspected include; the Sekyedumase Hospital and the Sekyedumase Mental Health Nursing College.
Led by the Regional Health Director, Dr. Fred Adomako Boateng, the team visited the institutions to inspect ongoing projects and assess operational challenges. At the Sekyedumase Hospital, the delegation interacted with hospital staff, led by Dr. Acheampong, during a durbar organized on the hospital premises.
Staff raised key concerns affecting service delivery, including shortages in human resources, inadequate medical equipment, transportation issues, challenges with the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), and complications with framework contracts.
Dr. Boateng assured staff that the Directorate would engage relevant stakeholders to address these challenges.
Following the hospital visit, Dr. Boateng and his team met with the Sekyedumase Traditional Council to discuss the future of the Sekyedumase Mental Health Nursing College. In the absence of the chief, Nana Antwi Boasiako II, the Gyaasehene, Nana Asiamah Yeboah, led the council in discussions.
Nana Asiamah Yeboah appealed to the Health Directorate to assist in securing accreditation for the college, stressing the importance of starting operations as soon as possible. He emphasized that the Sekyedumase Mental Health Nursing College would be the first of its kind in the Ashanti Region and would serve not only the region but the entire country.
In response, Dr. Boateng assured the traditional council that their concerns would be given the necessary attention, urging them to remain calm as steps are taken to address the accreditation process and other pressing matters.
