The Atwima Nwabiagya Municipal Assembly has combined faith and public safety messaging at a large-scale gospel gathering, using the platform to intensify calls for flood prevention measures ahead of the rainy season.
The event, dubbed Atwima For Christ and led by Municipal Chief Executive Wisdom Osei Boamah, brought together residents from across the municipality including youth, clergy, security personnel, and community leaders for a day of worship, reflection, and civic engagement.
Patrons were treated to spirited gospel performances from renowned artistes Mabel Okyere and Pastor Emmanuel Kyei Boate, whose ministrations created an atmosphere of high energy praise and deep spiritual connection.

Addressing the gathering, Osei Boamah announced plans to institutionalize Atwima For Christ as an annual event, underscoring its role in fostering unity and gratitude among residents. He noted that such initiatives are vital in strengthening communal bonds while promoting shared values.
However, beyond the worship, the Municipal Chief Executive used the occasion to deliver a strong message on environmental responsibility. He cautioned against indiscriminate waste disposal particularly the dumping of refuse into gutters which he identified as a major cause of flooding during heavy rains.
Highlighting the municipality’s progress, Osei Boamah revealed that no flood-related fatalities were recorded last year, attributing the achievement to proactive interventions, including the desilting and clearing of key drainage systems.
He assured residents that similar preventive measures would soon resume, with contractors expected to begin desilting exercises in the coming days to ensure the free flow of water as the rainy season approaches.
Hon. Osei Boamah concluded by urging residents to take collective responsibility for maintaining a clean environment, emphasizing that sustained community cooperation is essential to protecting lives and property from the threat of flooding.
