A scuffle between officers of the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) and the Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA-CD) at the Kulungugu Border post in the Upper East region has sparked a joint investigation by the two institutions.
A video circulating on social media showed officers engaged in a physical altercation, prompting swift action from the management of both institutions.
The Comptroller-General of Immigration, Mr. Kwame Asuah Takyi, and the Commissioner of the Customs Division, Brigadier General Zibrim Bawah Ayorrogo, have held meetings to discuss the incident and directed the establishment of a Joint Investigative Committee.
The committee will investigate the incident and recommend measures to prevent future occurrences.
In the meantime, the Officers in Charge of both Immigration and Customs at the Kulungugu Border Posts will work together under the auspices of the Border Security Committee (BOSEC) to resolve any immediate issues.
The GIS and GRA-CD have assured the public that they will continue to work collaboratively to ensure national security and development.
The findings of the investigations will be made public in due course.
