The Colleges of Education Teachers Association of Ghana (CETAG) has officially called off its eight-week strike following successful negotiations with the government.
The decision was made during an emergency National Council meeting held virtually today, where CETAG members voted unanimously to end the strike with immediate effect.
The strike was called off after CETAG’s leadership met with the Vice President of the Republic on August 15, 2024, at Jubilee House. During the meeting, the Vice President’s office provided assurances that a resolution to the ongoing impasse would be found.
These assurances were reaffirmed in a subsequent meeting between the Government’s negotiating team and CETAG representatives at the Ministry of Employment and Labour Relations (MELR) on August 19, 2024.
The Government presented a detailed roadmap with specific timelines for addressing CETAG’s outstanding concerns.
