The Ghana Cocoa Coffee Sheanut Farmers Association (COCOSHE) has urged cocoa farmers to remain calm following recent protests over delayed payments and adjustments to the producer price.
In a statement, the association acknowledged the concerns and frustrations of its members but discouraged demonstrations, emphasizing that leadership is actively engaging the government, the Ghana Cocoa Board (Cocobod), and other stakeholders to resolve the issues.
Alhaji Alhassan Bukari, National Chief Farmer, said the association is working “tirelessly” to support farmers and ensure the long-term stability of the cocoa sector. He called on members to remain united, patient, and focused on their farming activities while discussions continue.
COCOSHE stressed that protecting farmers’ livelihoods remains a top priority and reassured members that their welfare is central to ongoing negotiations.
