The Electoral Commission of Ghana (EC) has issued a formal notice to all temporary staff who served during the 2024 General Election, informing them that their allowances have not yet been paid due to a delay in the release of government funds.
In a memorandum addressed to all election officials, the Commission acknowledged the outstanding payments, attributing the delay to the non-release of the necessary funds from the Ministry of Finance.
The memo, signed by the Commission’s leadership, expressed regret for the inconvenience caused and assured the temporary staff that the Ministry of Finance has given assurances that the funds would be released soon.
“The Commission wishes to bring to the attention of all Temporary Officials engaged in the 2024 General Election that payments have not been made because the Commission is yet to receive the funds from the Ministry of Finance,” the notice stated.
Despite the delay, the Electoral Commission emphasized its appreciation for the dedication and professionalism displayed by the temporary staff, which it said contributed significantly to the successful conduct of the 2024 General Election.
“We apologize again for the delay and take this opportunity to express our gratitude to you for your commitment and professionalism, which contributed to the successful outcome of the 2024 General Election,” the memo continued
