The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) has suspended the production of Tasty Tom Enriched Tomato Mix by Nutrifoods Ghana Limited, citing serious health and safety breaches at the company’s facility.
In a statement released on Sunday, August 3, the FDA said the decision follows multiple consumer complaints that triggered an investigation into the company’s manufacturing processes. The inspection uncovered poor maintenance of critical equipment and insufficient monitoring systems, both of which compromised the safety and quality of the product.
As a result, the FDA had earlier ordered a nationwide recall of all canned Tasty Tom Enriched Tomato Mix products, including specific batches in 380g and 1.05kg pouches.
The regulatory body stated that production will remain suspended until Nutrifoods Ghana Limited rectifies the identified issues and implements corrective actions that align with the Authority’s safety standards.
The FDA further assured the public that it will continue to monitor the situation closely to ensure compliance and protect public health.
