A fire has broken out at a Chinese shopping mall located at Santasi Star Junction, near the Santasi Roundabout, in Kumasi on Thursday afternoon.
The cause of the fire remains unknown, but eyewitnesses say the blaze started shortly after 3 p.m. Firefighters from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) have since been deployed to the scene and are working tirelessly to bring the situation under control.
Thick smoke could be seen billowing from the building as shop owners and residents looked on helplessly.
It is not immediately clear whether there have been any casualties or the extent of damage caused by the inferno.
Authorities have cordoned off the area to prevent further congestion as emergency teams battle the flames.
Some nearby businesses have been temporarily closed as a precautionary measure.
Officials from the GNFS are expected to conduct investigations to determine the cause of the fire once it is fully extinguished.
