The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has contained a major fire outbreak at Ritz Junction near the Ashaley Botwe Taxi Station, saving a mechanic workshop and dozens of vehicles, though one firefighter sustained injuries in the process.
According to GNFS, three fire engines from the Madina, Adenta, and Legon fire stations were dispatched to the scene on Sunday after a distress call was received at 12:08 p.m.

The first response team, led by Assistant Divisional Officer I Patrick Rene Darkwah, arrived within two minutes to find the fire already well alight and spreading rapidly across multiple structures used for both commercial and residential purposes.
Firefighters managed to confine the blaze by 1:00 p.m., brought it under control at 2:07 p.m., and fully extinguished it by 2:40 p.m.

The fire destroyed 12 metal containers and 18 wooden structures along with their contents. However, emergency crews were able to salvage a nearby mechanic workshop containing 40 vehicles and 25 motorbikes, as well as 20 adjoining metal containers.
One firefighter sustained injuries during the operation and was transported to a local clinic in Madina for treatment. Officials say the cause of the fire is yet to be determined and remains under investigation.

The GNFS commended commanders and officers from the responding stations, including personnel from Abelemkpe, for their technical and operational support in bringing the situation under control.
