Five officers of the Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) have been interdicted with immediate effect pending the outcome of an internal investigation into alleged procedural breaches.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the GRA said the decision follows preliminary findings from an enforcement operation conducted on 18 February 2026. The operation involved a consignment of transit cargo declared for onward movement to Niger.
According to the Authority, discrepancies were detected in documentation and compliance with established transit procedures, prompting what it described as a “detailed internal review”.
Initial assessments point to potential breaches of procedure, the statement said, adding that a comprehensive and independent investigation will determine the full facts, including the extent of any individual involvement and whether established Customs protocols were violated.
The GRA noted that additional officers could be invited to assist with the investigation if necessary. It said appropriate administrative action would be taken in line with applicable laws and regulations once the process is concluded.
The Authority said the interdictions demonstrate its commitment to protecting national revenue, supporting local industries and promoting economic development.
It also reiterated its pledge to ensure that revenue collection and enforcement procedures are carried out with “the highest standards of professionalism and accountability”.
