The Fomena District Police Command has recovered arms and ammunition that had been abandoned in a vehicle by a spare driver identified only as Kwaku alias Zador.
The items retrieved included, two pump-action guns, 23 rounds of AA ammunition, three rounds of BB ammunition.
Addressing the media, DCOP Joseph Hammond Nyaaba , Ashanti South Police Commander said, Preliminary investigations revealed that the vehicle was given to the driver on May 9, 2025, to be returned by May 11, but he failed to do so.
The vehicle was later traced to a location in Kwabenakwa, a suburb of Obuasi, where the weapons were found.
DCOP Nyaaba urged the public to support police efforts by providing credible information to help clamp down on criminal activity.
He also issued a stern warning to criminals, advising them to abandon illegal activities as the police continue to intensify their crackdown across the region.
