Greater Accra Regional Minister Linda Ocloo has denied allegations circulating on social media that she engaged in political campaigning during recent elections, describing a widely shared video as misleading and deliberately taken out of context.
In a public rejoinder issued on Sunday, the Minister said the video originated from an earlier engagement during the Ablekuma North elections and was part of a full interview conducted during that period.
She said the footage had been selectively edited and circulated to distort facts and advance what she described as a “politically convenient narrative.”
Ocloo clarified that her presence at the election grounds in Ayawaso East on Saturday was strictly in her official capacity as Head of Regional Security. According to her, the visit was to observe proceedings, assess the security situation and ensure the maintenance of peace, law and order.
“At no point was my visit intended to, nor did it, constitute campaigning or support for any candidate or political interest,” she said.
She further stated that she had not visited the constituency after the burial and prayer service of the late Member of Parliament until election day, adding that she attended the grounds dressed in black funeral attire.
The Minister also rejected claims that she distributed ice chests or other items to a former constituency chairman who was contesting in the election for onward distribution to delegates. She described those allegations as false and malicious.
Ocloo condemned what she termed the unethical manipulation and circulation of media content for political mischief, warning against the deliberate spread of misinformation.
She urged the public and media practitioners to disregard the misleading clips and rely on accurate, complete and credible information from verified sources.
Reaffirming her commitment to transparency and responsible leadership, the Minister said any further attempts to spread falsehoods or deliberately mislead the public would be treated seriously.
The statement was signed by Linda Ocloo, who is also the Member of Parliament and Greater Accra Regional Minister.
