The Metropolitan Chief Executive of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA), Richard Ofori Agyeman Boadi, has ordered all unauthorized traders at entry points and canteens of Kumasi City Market (Kejetia Dubai) to vacate immediately, with enforcement set for tomorrow.
Speaking to the media, Boadi distanced himself from any bribery claims, stating he would not accept money from traders operating in unapproved areas.
“If someone told you we’re collecting money for the Mayor, inform them I don’t need it, I am not a thief,” he declared, urging traders to reclaim payments from middlemen and clear the spaces.
Boadi warned that starting tomorrow, KMA security and military personnel will conduct the operation, confiscating goods from gate entrances without exception or return.

“God willing, tomorrow, anyone found at the gate entrances to Kejetia Market with goods will have them confiscated and will not get them back.”
He emphasized no favoritism, saying any items found at entry points will be seized permanently.
“This exercise will not be conducted with Kejetia Market security; we will bring in both military and KMA security. We will not show any favoritism. If your goods are found at the entry points, they will be seized,” he emphasized.
He also declared that traders crowding canteens must also leave to allow proper space, as the market contractor has indicated current usage violates facility guidelines.
“If tomorrow we come and you are not in any of the market stores, your goods will be confiscated,” Boadi added, aiming to restore order at West Africa’s largest market.
