The race to secure the position of General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for the forthcoming 2028 general elections is shaping up with incumbent Justin Kodua Frimpong emerging as the clear frontrunner.
A recent poll conducted by Global Info Analytics, released on August 21, 2025, indicates that Kodua enjoys overwhelming support among party delegates as they prepare for the upcoming NPP primaries.
According to the survey, which included responses from 2,656 NPP delegates nationwide with 2,560 completing the full questionnaire, Kodua Frimpong commands 44% of the delegate backing.
This significant lead positions him well ahead of his nearest rival, former Bantema Member of Parliament Henry Kokofu, who garnered just 6% support.
Other candidates in the contest appeared less favored among party delegates. Eugene Boakye Antwi, former MP for Subin, registered 4%, while Sylvester Tetteh and Isaac Asiamah each received 3%. Dr. Charles Dwamena trailed with 2% of delegate preference.
Despite the marked lead by Frimpong Kodua, the poll also highlights a sizeable portion of the electorate still undecided, with 36% of delegates yet to commit to a candidate.
Additionally, 2% indicated they would support an alternative candidate not listed among the leading contenders.
The polling exercise, conducted between August 12 and 20, covered 263 out of the 276 constituencies in Ghana and employed computer-assisted telephone interviewing (CATI) to ensure broad and representative participation. The survey maintains a 99% confidence level and a margin of error of ±2.44%, lending credibility to its findings
