The Member of Parliament for Asawase and Minister for the Interior, Hon. Alhaji Muntaka Mubarak Mohammed, has expressed deep sorrow over the killing of Naa Abdul-Malik Azenbe, the Kusasi Chief in the Ashanti Region and Kaadi Divisional Area Chief in the Binduri District of the Upper East Region.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the MP described the incident as a “heinous act” that threatens the peace and security of the country.
“This tragic killing is not only an attack on a revered traditional authority but also a grievous wound to the peace and security we all cherish,” he said.
Alhaji Muntaka extended his condolences to the bereaved family, the Kusasi community in the Ashanti Region, and the traditional leadership of the Kusaug area.
He assured the public that security agencies are working to apprehend the perpetrators. According to him, the Ghana Police Service has already launched thorough investigations, and all necessary resources are being deployed to ensure the suspects are swiftly brought to justice.
“We remain resolute in protecting every citizen and upholding the rule of law,” he added, calling on residents, especially within the Asawase constituency and its environs, to remain calm and assist the police with any information that could help the investigation.
The MP prayed for Allah’s blessings for the late chief and comfort for his family and community, urging all citizens to stand together to ensure peace and justice prevail.
