The Mayor of Kumasi, Richard Ofori Agyeman Boadi, popularly known as King Zuba, has handed over an abandoned classroom project at Santasi M/A School for completion, marking a significant step toward improving basic education infrastructure in the community.
Speaking during the handing-over ceremony, the Mayor said the existing structure at the school had deteriorated to a point where it could no longer be continued, making it necessary for the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) to initiate a new project.

He announced that the Assembly has secured funding for the construction of a six-unit classroom block with offices, which is expected to be completed within six months.
“We have made the money available. Whatever is estimated for this project is ready, and the contractor will receive a 15 percent mobilization fund to enable him to start work immediately,” the Mayor said.
Mr. Agyeman Boadi stressed the need for quality and durability, cautioning the contractor against cutting corners. He said strict adherence to specifications, including the use of the right quantities of materials, would ensure that the facility stands the test of time and serves the people of Santasi and Kumasi effectively.

“This is about giving our children the right environment to learn and grow into responsible citizens. The contractor must do a good job,” he added.
The Mayor also commended the Santasi Assemblyman, Isaac Ofori, for what he described as effective representation of the community’s interests at the Assembly.
He noted that the assemblyman had consistently championed the educational needs of the area and deserved recognition for his efforts.
Hon. Ofori expressed gratitude to the Mayor and appealed to residents of Santasi to support the contractor to ensure the smooth execution of the project.

The development was welcomed by the school authorities. The Headteacher of Santasi M/A School, Emily Abraham, described the occasion as a long-awaited breakthrough for the school.
“Today is a great day for Santasi M/A School. We have been looking forward to this for a very long time. We really need these classrooms, and we promise to make good use of them,” she said.
She also thanked the Mayor, the Assemblyman, traditional leaders, and the government for responding to the school’s needs.
The project is expected to ease congestion, improve teaching and learning conditions, and enhance access to quality basic education for children in Santasi once completed.
