In a strong show of support, hundreds of traders and party delegates at the Kumasi Railways Market have declared their backing for Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum in his bid to lead the New Patriotic Party (NPP) as its presidential candidate.
The group, made up of grassroots party loyalists and market leaders, said Dr. Adutwum’s visionary leadership and stellar track record as Education Minister make him the right choice to lead the party into the 2028 general elections.
Speaking to the media on Monday, June 23, 2025, David Osei Kuffour, a prominent member of the traders and an executive of the Ashanti Second-Hand Shoe Sellers Association, highlighted Dr. Adutwum’s transformational achievements in Ghana’s education sector.
He described the minister as a unifier who connects with both the grassroots and national leadership, qualities the NPP needs in its next flagbearer.
“Dr. Adutwum is not only a reformer but also a bridge-builder.
He understands the needs of ordinary Ghanaians and has the vision to move Ghana forward,” Mr. Kuffour stated.
The group also announced plans to embark on a vigorous door-to-door campaign to mobilize support for Dr. Adutwum among NPP delegates across the country.
According to them, the party must choose a candidate who can not only unite the NPP but also appeal to the broader Ghanaian electorate.
“We are ready to work day and night to ensure Dr. Adutwum gets the nod. The future of the NPP and Ghana depends on choosing the right leader—and that leader is Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum,” Mr. Kuffour added.
With mounting grassroots support and a growing endorsement base, Dr. Adutwum is positioning himself as a formidable contender in the NPP’s internal race for the 2028 elections.
