Lawyer Samuel Addo Otoo, a National Vice Chairman hopeful of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), has charged young party members and students to redefine leadership as a service built on integrity and purpose rather than a quest for power.
Speaking at the TEIN handing over ceremony of Tamale Technical University (TaTU) on Thursday, Mr. Otoo delivered a compelling message to the student body under the theme “Igniting Potential, Inspiring Change.”
“It was a distinct honour to join the brilliant minds and comrades of TaTU,” he said. “Leadership is not a position to be attained, but a service to be rendered.”
The event brought together student leaders, party faithful, and lecturers to mark the formal transition of leadership within TEIN, the Tertiary Education Institutions Network of the NDC at the university.

The Three Pillars of Potential
In his keynote address, Mr. Otoo outlined a framework he described as the “Three Pillars of Potential,” a blueprint he believes the younger generation must embrace to transform society.
The first pillar, he said, is the Legality of Purpose, which emphasizes building one’s leadership journey on strong values and principles.
“True change,” he noted, “is born from disciplined action, not from chaos.”
The second, the Economy of Time, urges the youth to treat time as their most valuable resource.
“Your youthful years are your greatest asset,” he advised. “Invest them in ideas that will outlive your stay on campus.”

The third, the Currency of Credibility, highlights the indispensable value of trust in leadership.
“In business, the most valuable capital is money. But in leadership, integrity is the capital that determines your worth,” he emphasized. “No one invests in a leader who cannot be trusted.”
Call for Humility and Collective Support
Mr. Otoo further encouraged the newly inaugurated TEIN executives to lead with humility and commitment, adding that genuine leadership requires not just vision but cooperation.
“To the incoming executives, I say carry the mantle of leadership with humility. To the members, demand excellence, but also offer your full support so that together, you can succeed,” he urged.

NDC’s Commitment to Youth Empowerment
Touching on the broader role of youth in national development, the NDC Vice Chairman hopeful reaffirmed his dedication to integrating young people into national policy and governance.
“The NDC remains the most attractive vehicle capable of steering Ghana toward social justice and economic prosperity,” he declared.
“As I seek to serve as National Vice Chairman, my commitment is to ensure that the brilliance of Ghanaian youth is fully integrated, equipped, and resourced not only to achieve personal success but to advance the aspirations of the nation as a whole”, he added
He concluded by challenging the students to be catalysts for change: “Go forth and ignite the fire of progress in every corner of Ghana.”
The event ended with applause as participants pledged renewed commitment to the vision of the NDC and to the ideals of selfless leadership under the slogan, “Secure the Base; Sustain the Future.”
