The flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Mahama, has announced plans to establish an annual National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving if elected President in December. The announcement was made during a breakfast meeting with religious leaders in Ho, as part of his campaign tour in the Volta Region.
Mahama explained that the purpose of this day would be to express gratitude to God for His blessings upon the people of Ghana and to seek continued divine favor for the nation. He emphasized the significance of giving thanks in all circumstances and the need for spiritual intercession to secure future blessings.
“In all things, we must give thanks. In happiness, sadness, and whatever happens to us, we must give thanks,” Mahama stated. He added, “Even though God expects us to work hard to improve our circumstances, He also recognizes the importance of spiritual intercession to open the gates of blessings.”
Mahama highlighted the importance of counting one’s blessings and acknowledging God’s past actions as a way to invite more goodness in the future. “He says count your blessings, and if you accept and recognize what He has done for you, He will do even more for you,” he said.
The former President’s vision of “Building the Ghana We Want Together” remains central to his campaign message as he engages with various stakeholders across the region. During his tour, Mahama has been participating in community durbars and interacting with young Ghanaians, women, traders, drivers, traditional leaders, and other community members.
As Mahama continues his campaign throughout the Volta Region, his message of gratitude and hope is being warmly received. The proposed National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving is a testament to his commitment to fostering a strong and prosperous Ghana for all its citizens.
