The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has strongly condemned alleged incidents of bribery and vote buying during the party’s parliamentary primaries in the Ayawaso East constituency and announced the immediate launch of a full-scale investigation.
In a statement issued by the party’s National Secretariat on Saturday, the NDC said its national executives had been alerted to “widespread incidents of inducement and vote buying” allegedly carried out by some aspirants during the primaries held earlier in the day.
The party described the alleged conduct as a direct violation of its core values and principles, stressing that such actions undermine the credibility of its internal democratic processes and contradict the party’s broader “reset agenda.”
“The party vehemently condemns these actions in no uncertain terms,” the statement said, adding that any aspirant found culpable after investigations would face swift disciplinary action.
The NDC further warned that it would not hesitate to impose tougher sanctions in the future to deter similar conduct. These measures, the party noted, could include the cancellation of elections where credible reports of inducement and vote buying are established.
The statement was signed by the NDC’s General Secretary, Hon. Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, and referenced under document number NDC/HQ/25-3/099.
The party did not name any individuals involved but assured members and the general public of its commitment to upholding transparency, fairness and integrity in all internal electoral processes.
