The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has announced plans to convene a joint meeting involving all individuals who have declared their intention to contest the party’s upcoming presidential primaries.
The meeting, scheduled for Thursday, July 3, 2025, will bring together presidential hopefuls, the National Steering Committee, and the National Council of Elders to discuss matters of mutual interest.
In a statement signed by General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong, the party disclosed that the decision was reached during a meeting of the National Steering Committee on Tuesday, June 24, 2025.
The statement also revealed that disciplinary proceedings have been initiated against the Bono Regional Chairman, Mr. Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye.
He has been referred to the party’s National Disciplinary Committee for breaching party directives and making what the party described as “unguarded public comments,” despite prior cautioning.
In a bid to maintain internal discipline and cohesion, the NPP further directed an immediate halt to all caucuses or associations of present and former party executives and government appointees who have been holding meetings with presidential aspirants in contravention of party regulations.
“The Party wishes to once again remind members of their constitutional obligation to protect party unity, to abide by and publicly support the Party’s decisions, and to refrain from engaging in acts that threaten party cohesion,” the statement emphasized.
This latest directive comes amid growing internal competition and tensions as the party prepares for its presidential primaries ahead of the 2028 general elections.
