The National Service Authority (NSS) has organized a pre-service orientation exercise for prospective 2025 service personnel in Kumasi, Ashanti Region.
The orientation aimed to educate applicants on their responsibilities and the procedures they are expected to follow as part of the registration process.
The event was graced by the Director-General of the National Service Scheme, Felix Gyamfi along with other top management officials from the Authority.
As part of the exercise, applicants were taken through the NSS registration process, including the generation of PIN codes.
Officials also guided them on the required documentation, such as a national identification card, phone number, and student ID card, to ensure a smooth and accurate registration.
Addressing the gathering, the Director-General revealed that the NSS is in advanced discussions with the Minister of Finance, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, to increase the monthly allowance for service personnel.
He further announced the introduction of an optional military training program for interested service personnel.
“This year, service personnel will have the opportunity to undergo military training. It will be optional and subject to certain requirements. You must be physically fit and capable of waking up for a 4 a.m. roll call, engage in physical exercises, learn first aid, and more,” he explained.
According to Mr. Gyamfi, the military training initiative is intended to instill discipline, patriotism, and a sense of national duty in participants.
“The goal is to build confidence, develop personal security awareness, and strengthen interpersonal relationships. We encourage you to consider this challenge and prepare over the next six months,” he urged.
The NSS pre-orientation program is part of efforts to streamline the service registration process and better prepare graduates for their national service duties.
