A fire outbreak at an uncompleted fuel station in Ejura Babasso, near the cemetery, claimed the life of a 25-year-old man on Tuesday, July 22, 2025.
According to the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), a distress call was received at about 12:25 p.m.
Firefighters from the Ejura Fire Station, led by Station Officer I Daniels Moah, arrived on the scene within six minutes.
They managed to bring the blaze under control within 10 minutes and fully extinguished it by 12:55 p.m.
By the time the fire was contained, the structure had been completely gutted. The victim, identified as Ali Abubakari, was found at the site and confirmed dead.
His charred remains have been handed over to the Ejura Police Command for further investigation.
In a statement signed by Ashanti Regional Public Relations Officer DO2 Peter Addai, the GNFS said investigations are underway to determine the cause of the fire.
The service also cautioned the public against storing or dispensing petroleum products in unauthorized or unsafe facilities.
The GNFS expressed its condolences to the bereaved family and reiterated its commitment to safeguarding lives and property through swift and professional emergency response.
