Police officers on duty at Tinkong Police checkpoint on Koforidua to Mamfe Highway in the Eastern Region have arrested a woman for allegedly trafficking a large quantity of suspected narcotics believed to be cannabis.
The suspect was onboard a Toyota Voxy commercial vehicle traveling from Koforidua to Accra in the afternoon of Tuesday February 3,2026 when she was intercepted by vigilant police officers at the barrier.
The officers—comprising three males and two females—conducted a thorough search of the vehicle and passengers’ luggage as part of their routine checks.
During the inspection, they discovered an Ecolac bag placed at the back of the vehicle.
The bag contained large quantities of wrapped substances suspected to be narcotics, concealed under clothing.
The woman was identified as the owner of the bag and was immediately arrested.
She admitted ownership of both the bag and its contents.
She reportedly confessed to peddling drugs for sometime now for livelihood.
The suspect and the seized exhibit have been taken to the Eastern Regional Police Headquarters to assist with ongoing investigations.
