A suspected armed robber has been killed following an intelligence-led anti-robbery operation by the Ghana Police Service at Ejura in the Ashanti Region.
The operation, carried out by the Police Intelligence Directorate on March 18, 2026, targeted members of a robbery gang believed to be responsible for a series of attacks in the area, particularly along major roads used by residents and commuters.
According to the police, one of the suspects, identified only as Amadu, also known as “Manu,” sustained gunshot wounds during the operation and was later pronounced dead.
Police said the suspect had been linked to a robbery incident that occurred on March 14, 2026, along the Atebubu–Ejura highway.
During that attack, the robbers reportedly fired into a moving vehicle, leaving a passenger injured.
Items retrieved from the suspect included a single-barrelled gun, five live cartridges, a Tecno Pop 10 mobile phone, and a cash amount of GH¢200.

The police said efforts are ongoing to track down and arrest other members of the gang.
They added that security operations in the area have been intensified to ensure the safety of residents and road users.
