The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA), in collaboration with the Manhyia Palace, has announced a metrowide clean-up exercise on Saturday, September 13, 2025, as part of preparations for the final funeral rites (Doteyie) of the late Asantehemaa, Nana Konadu Yiadom III.
The exercise will run from 6:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon and is aimed at keeping Kumasi spotless and presentable to the thousands of mourners expected to converge on the city.
As part of the directive, all trading activities and shops are to remain closed until midday to allow traders and shop owners to fully participate in the exercise. Commercial drivers have also been cautioned that vehicular movement will not be permitted within the stipulated hours.
The KMA and Manhyia Palace have further called on security agencies, volunteer groups, and residents across Kumasi to take part in the exercise, particularly along key routes such as Airport Roundabout to Manhyia Palace, Manhyia Palace to Amakom, Ash Town, Manhyia, and surrounding areas.
The Assembly stressed the need for collective participation, urging residents to comply with the directive in honour of the revered Queenmother.
