Vice President Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyeman has hailed Ghanaian youth as “very, very innovative,” emphasizing their untapped potential to drive national development with just a “little bit of push.”
Speaking during an official working visit to the Ministry of Youth Development and Empowerment in Accra on Wednesday, Prof. Opoku-Agyeman praised the qualities of young Ghanaians, expressing confidence in their ability to transform the country.
“I have no doubt about what the youth can do in this country. All you need is to give them a little bit of push and you’ll be amazed what they will do,” she stated.
“The youth of Ghana are very, very innovative and I believe that you have a lot to offer this country,” the Veep added.
Prof. Opoku-Agyeman also commended the ministry’s internal policies, noting their progressive approach to gender inclusion.
“I’m not surprised about all the things you have talked about. I’m not surprised at all. And I’m very happy that even in your setup you have gone beyond the affirmative action 30% and you have done 50%. I think that’s very, very impressive. And I want to encourage you to keep that up,” she stressed.
Her visit underscores the National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration’s focus on youth empowerment since taking office, including initiatives like the Youth Employment Agency expansions and innovation grants announced in the 2025 budget.
Ministry officials, who briefed the Vice President on ongoing programs such as digital skills hubs and agribusiness startups, described the interaction as a morale booster.
