The Deputy National Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mustapha Gbande, has accused the New Patriotic Party (NPP) of allegedly engaging in vote-buying by distributing marijuana (weed) to youth in the Ejisu Constituency.
He claims that the NPP targeted known weed smokers at various illegal smoking spots in the area.
Speaking at a mini-rally in Ejisu on Thursday, August 29, 2024, Mustapha Bande stated, “During the Ejisu by-elections, the NPP was busy promoting illegal activities in this constituency.
Instead of highlighting their achievements or creating jobs, they resorted to the shameful act of supplying weed to the youth, hoping to secure their votes. That’s how desperate they were.”
He added, “In the history of Ghanaian politics, I’ve never seen any party campaigning with weed for votes. In every elections year political parties campaign with records but on other hand the NPP is campaigning with weed this is unprecedented.”
Gbande urged parents in the constituency to vote against the NPP, accusing the party of encouraging marijuana use among the youth by supplying them with the substance.
