The Ghana Police Service has interdicted General Lance Corporal Shani Abdullai for possessing and allegedly distributing restricted pharmaceutical substances at Kpalsi, a suburb of Tamale.
The interdiction, announced on Friday, is to pave the way for a thorough investigation in accordance with police regulations.
In a viral video circulating on social media, the interdicted officer is seen being interrogated by fellow police officers.
During the questioning, Abdullai reportedly admitted to dealing in the restricted substance and supplying it to users.
In a startling confession, he acknowledged the harmful nature of the drug, stating that he would never allow his children or family members to consume it.
However, he admitted to selling it to others, citing the influence of money as his motivation.
The Police Service says it is treating the matter with the seriousness it deserves, and appropriate disciplinary and legal actions will be taken based on the outcome of ongoing investigations.
