The National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP), a government initiative under the Office of the President, has announced the temporary suspension of its staff due to unresolved employment-related issues.
A memo signed by the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and addressed to the HR Officer on February 21, 2025, stated that the suspension would take effect from the close of work on the same day. Employees have been instructed not to report to work starting Monday, February 24, 2025, until further notice.
The decision follows extensive deliberations regarding the complexities and legal implications surrounding staff employment. According to the memo, these unresolved matters prevent the organization from utilizing operational funds to pay monthly staff allowances.
“Management has been instructed to adhere strictly to due process in regularizing staff employment matters to prevent further legal complications,” the statement read.
The suspension will remain in place until all employment issues are fully resolved. However, management may recall specific employees whose services are required during this period.
Additionally, all staff in possession of NEIP property have been directed to return the items to the HR Officer by the close of work on Tuesday, February 25, 2025. Failure to do so, the memo warned, would be considered as deliberate theft.
NEIP urged employees to cooperate with management as they work towards resolving the issue. The memo concluded with an appeal for understanding and patience from affected staff.
This development raises concerns about the financial and operational stability of the organization, as well as the potential impact on employees who rely on their monthly allowances. Stakeholders are expected to monitor the situation closely as NEIP works towards a resolution.
