An outspoken prominent member of the National Democratic Congress, PV Jantuah Boateng Dadson has threatened to resign from the NDC if the party participates in any presidential debate ahead of the upcoming elections.
The former Presidential Staffer and Business Economist in a Facebook post, stated “If the NDC and John Dramani Mahama (JDM) participate in the IEA debate or any other debate, I will quit the NDC and cease supporting JDM”.
He emphasized that their decision is final, regardless of the organizing committee members.
The economist argued that there is no law in Ghana that requires the NDC and JDM to participate in debates, and that their participation is not necessary to win the 2024 elections.
“If NDC and JDM will participate in a debate, l say its not this time. There is NO law in Ghana that compels NDC and JDM to participate in a debate. NDC and JDM do not need a debate to win the 2024 elections”.
He called out the hypocrisy of debate promoters, who did not compel the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to participate in debates in 2016 and 2020, yet are now pushing for debates.
“If the promoters of the debate didn’t find it prudent and needful to compel NPP and NAADA to come for a debate in 2016 & 2020, then they shouldn’t start it now”.
The economist concluded, ‘The NDC is not an alternative to the NPP; the difference is crystal clear now’.
