NPP refers Adwoa Safo to disciplinary committee over media comments

Former Dome-Kwabenya MP Sarah Adwoa Sarfo to appear before the NPP’s disciplinary committee on April 7, for flouting a directive to members to cease public discussions that create disaffection for the party.

The party believes the former Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection made comments that potentially exposed the NPP to public ridicule, prompting an internal inquiry.

A letter dated March 24, 2025, and signed on behalf of  Patrick Boamah, Secretary to the Disciplinary Committee, summoned Ms. Safo to assist in ongoing investigations by providing relevant information and documentation.

The hearing is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. at the NPP’s national headquarters in Asylum Down, Accra.

The letter, which was copied to the party’s National Chairman and General Secretary, reminded the former lawmaker of her right to legal representation during the proceedings.

She was also encouraged to present any documentary evidence or witnesses that may support her position.

“The Party remains committed to upholding principles of transparency, fairness, and due process,” the letter stated, further requesting that Ms. Safo acknowledge receipt and confirm her attendance.

Although details of the specific allegations remain undisclosed, the summons comes amid a broader push by the NPP to enforce internal discipline and ensure accountability among its members.

Ms. Safo, who previously attracted public and intra-party criticism over her extended absence from Parliament, has had a tumultuous relationship with the party leadership in recent years.

Her appearance before the committee could mark a turning point in efforts to either reconcile differences or pursue disciplinary measures.
