President John Dramani Mahama has pledged to support the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission in its journey to becoming one of Ghana’s largest suppliers of poultry.
Speaking during a visit to the mission’s holy grounds, the President highlighted plans to revive the state-owned poultry farm previously situated on the property.
“Last year, as I stood on this ground and had a conversation with the Ameer, I realized that these holy grounds were formerly the site of the renowned state-owned Four Months Poultry Farm,” President Mahama recalled. “I promised that if I were elected President, I would work with the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission to restore this poultry farm to its former glory.”
President Mahama assured the gathering that efforts are already underway to honor this commitment. “I have taken steps to initiate this process, and I remain determined to ensure that the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission becomes one of the biggest suppliers of chicken in this country,” he declared.
He emphasized that the project is intended not only to generate income for the mission but also to create employment opportunities for its congregants. “This farm will serve as an example to encourage other faith-based organizations to engage in income-generating projects, particularly in the agribusiness sector,” he stated.
The President revealed that plans are in motion for a feasibility study, with experts set to visit the mission in the coming weeks to lay the groundwork for the project. “Your mission will soon receive visitors who will start working with you to conduct a feasibility study,” he announced.
President Mahama reiterated the importance of faith-based organizations exploring economic ventures to sustain their missions and contribute to national development. “This initiative will show that faith-based organizations can successfully embark on income-generating projects to support their missions and create jobs,” he added.
