President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has called on the people North east region to rally behind Vice Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) presidential candidate for the 2024 elections to win the election 2024.
Speaking to a gathering of supporters, President Akufo-Addo emphasized the importance of unity in securing victory for Dr. Bawumia, whom he described as highly qualified and capable of leading Ghana into the future.
“I am urging all of you here in the North East Region to come together as one, to put your shoulder to the wheel and make your son, Mohammed Bawumia, the next president of Ghana,” Akufo-Addo stated.
He highlighted the significance of regional pride, urging the people to support Bawumia not just because he is from the region, but because of his competence and dedication to the nation.
“We all come from somewhere, but where you come from is not the issue. It’s your quality that matters, and this man has the quality to be the next president of Ghana,” Akufo-Addo emphasized, praising Dr. Bawumia’s leadership qualities and track record.
Reflecting on their long history of working together, Akufo-Addo shared his personal experience with Bawumia’s professionalism and expertise. “If there’s anyone who can testify to his capacity, his ability, and his sense of duty, it is me. I am not speaking on hearsay,” he said. Akufo-Addo recounted their early days when Bawumia was Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana, describing him as an “extremely efficient and highly respected economist.”
Akufo-Addo recalled how Bawumia’s name was first proposed to him in 2008 when he was searching for a running mate, and he immediately recognized Bawumia’s potential. “Since then, up to today, we have worked hand in hand, both in the eight years in opposition and the eight years in government,” he noted.
The president’s message resonated deeply with the crowd, as he highlighted Dr. Bawumia’s commitment to duty and his significant contributions to national development. He urged the people to put aside any differences and focus on supporting a candidate who has proven his dedication and capability over the years.
President Akufo-Addo’s visit to the North East Region forms part of the NPP’s broader strategy to galvanize support across the country, with Dr. Bawumia positioned as a key figure to continue the party’s development agenda.
