The Ashanti Regional branch of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has expressed profound gratitude to President John Dramani Mahama for appointing key individuals from the region to ministerial positions in his government.
In a press statement signed by the Ashanti Regional Chairman, Augustus Andrews Nana Akwasi, the NDC leadership in the region lauded the President for recognizing the region’s critical role in the party’s success and Ghana’s governance.
The statement highlighted the President’s earlier nomination of Dr. Frank Amoakohene as Minister Designate for the Ashanti Region as a testament to his recognition of the region’s importance.
It further commended the subsequent appointments of Hon. Mubarak Mohammed Muntaka, Member of Parliament for Asawase, as Minister Designate for the Ministry of Interior, and Mr. Adjel Kenneth Gilbert as Minister Designate for the Ministry of Works, Housing, and Water Resources.
“These appointments have been received with great appreciation and optimism by party members and constituents across the Ashanti Region,” the statement read.
While celebrating the appointments, the Ashanti NDC expressed hope that more individuals from the region would be considered for Deputy Ministerial roles and Chief Executive Officer positions in key institutions.
Such appointments, the statement noted, would further enhance the region’s role in advancing the NDC’s vision for national development.
The Ashanti NDC reaffirmed its loyalty and support for President Mahama’s administration, pledging to work collectively to achieve the goals of the party and fulfill the aspirations of all Ghanaians.
“We extend our deepest gratitude for your thoughtful consideration and leadership. May your administration continue to usher in unity, progress, and prosperity for our beloved country,” the statement concluded.
The Ashanti Region, traditionally seen as a stronghold of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), has become increasingly pivotal in Ghana’s political landscape.
These appointments by President Mahama are seen as efforts to promote inclusivity and enhance the region’s contributions to national governance.
The appointments are pending parliamentary approval.
