The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Asokore Mampong in the Ashanti Region, Ben Abdallah Alhassan, has vowed to strictly enforce sanitation by-laws to address the municipality’s growing waste management challenges.
Speaking at a sanitation conference organized by the assembly, Mr. Alhassan announced the formation of a task force to oversee compliance with sanitation regulations.
The conference brought together traditional authorities, religious leaders, and community opinion leaders to deliberate on lasting solutions to the problem.
With a population of more than 191,000, Asokore Mampong continues to grapple with inadequate waste disposal and poor sanitation practices.
According to the MCE, the newly established task force will coordinate regular community clean-up exercises across the municipality to promote environmental hygiene.
Mr. Alhassan further cautioned that the assembly would no longer tolerate buildings constructed on waterways, stressing that such practices exacerbate flooding and hinder effective sanitation management.
