The Ashanti Regional branch of the pro-New Patriotic Party (NPP) group, Bold Patriotic Alliance, has declaring their support for former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia ahead of NPP's Presidential primaries

The Ashanti Regional branch of the pro-New Patriotic Party (NPP) group, Bold Patriotic Alliance, has declared its support for former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, urging delegates to elect him as the party’s flagbearer for the 2028 general elections.

The group made the declaration at Abuakwa in the Ashanti Region during Dr. Bawumia’s campaign tour of the Atwima Nwabiagya constituency as part of his bid to lead the NPP once again.

Former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia today wrapped up a three-day campaign tour of the Ashanti Region.

The NPP’s defeated flagbearer in the 2024 elections is seeking re-election to lead the party into the 2028 polls.

On Wednesday, September 10, 2025, Dr. Bawumia began his tour of the region to solicit delegates’ votes in support of his comeback bid.

At Abuakwa, where he met with delegates from the zone, members of the Ashanti Regional branch of the Bold Patriotic Alliance openly declared their support for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

The group maintained that Dr. Bawumia stands tall among all the candidates who have so far filed nomination forms to contest the party’s primaries.

Acheampong Takye Desmond, Executive Secretary of the group told Kumasi Mail the Dr. Bawumia is the only candidate Ghanaians trust to lead the Country after President Mahama’s tenure in office expires.

“ what we Bold Patriotic Allience are saying is that come January 31st 2026 we want all delegates who will be voting in the NPP’s Presidentia Primaries to vote for  Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia’’ he pleaded.

He explained that “ President Mahama has promised Ghanaians that he will seek re-election in elections 2028. This means the NDC will present a new candidate who will have to be marketed to Ghanaians. Unlike Dr. Bawamia who has alredy been marketed to Ghanaians as Vice President of Ghana for 8 years, Flag bearer of NPP in election 2024 and running mate for 2008, 2012, and 2016  general elections’’.

He added” currently , with Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia as the NPP’s Flag bearer for elections 2028 the NPP will just require Percent (9%) to reclaim power from the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC). That is why we are saying Aka 9 p3 na yaba power’’ he reiterated.

The group’s Secretary, Francis Adu Owusu, also stated that after monitoring the campaign messages of all aspirants in the presidential primaries, the group is convinced that Dr. Bawumia’s vision for constituency and party development is unmatched.

“ we strongly believe that Dr. Bawumia’s plan for delegates and Party grassroots development will transform that party when given the opportunity to lead the party. Dr. Bawumia has assured as that when we vote for him to lead the party and he win the 2028 general elections each constituency will get 10 appoint. This mean party grassroots supporters will get people in leadership passion to seek support from by so doing the party will be strong at the grassroot levels. So we the bulls on the grouds believe that Dr. Bawumia is the man for the job’’ he lamented.

Another member, Abdul Raman Wadugu, explained that although the individuals contesting Dr. Bawumia held various positions in the immediate past NPP administration, none of them can match the achievements of the former Vice President.

“ the digital drive agenda of Dr. Bawumia and his leadership skill speaks volume therefore, we believe that it will be a greatest mistake for NPP delegates to reject Dr. Bawumia at this critical moment’’.
