The Electricity Company of Ghana, Ashanti West Region, on Wednesday 2nd April, 2025 visited Amakye Bare to interact with stakeholders and communicate gains made to supply residents with electricity.
Amakye Bare, a community in the Offinso District of ECG was hit with severe rainstorm on 5th March, 2025 which left the community in ruins after a powerful storm tore through the area, destroying more than 60 houses and four schools.

Among the affected institutions were Barekuma R/C Primary,Barekuma D/A Junior High School, and two private schools. At least 16 people sustained injuries during the storm.

The community was cut off the national grid after the storm destroyed 86 poles and other accessories like conductors, headgears among others.
Interacting with the stakeholders, Ing. George Amoah, GM/Ashanti West, commiserated with the victims.

Ing. George Amoah revealed that the company had assessed the situation and have taken measures to construct a new distribution network for the community.
Ing. Amoah added that the company will try to restore power supply to part of the community before the project to reconstruct the new network starts.

“Starting tomorrow morning, our engineers will start assembling portions of the network to try and restore power supply to parts of the community while we await approval for the new network “, he said.

The Unit Committee Chairman of the electoral area, Asuma Banda, thanked ECG for this visit and assured ECG of the community’s support to complete the project.
Present at the engagement were Mrs. Ruth Boatemaa Boateng, District Manager/ Offinso, Ing. Emmanuel Osei Amoako, Ashanti West Regional Engineer, delegation from ECG Offinso District, Ashanti West Regional Office and Opinion leaders from Amakye Bare.
