The family of the late Ghanaian music legend, Charles Kwadwo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba, has officially informed the government of his passing.
Members of the Parkoso Ekoɔna Ebusua and the Fosu Family on Monday paid a courtesy call on the Office of the Chief of Staff at the Presidency.
The delegation met with Mr. Julius Debrah, Chief of Staff, to brief him on initial arrangements for the musician’s final funeral rites.
As part of the plans, the family announced that a one-week observation will be held on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at the University of Ghana Stadium to honor Daddy Lumba’s memory.
On behalf of President John Dramani Mahama and the Presidency, Mr. Debrah expressed condolences to the bereaved family.
He commended Daddy Lumba’s immense contribution to Ghana’s music industry and cultural heritage, describing him as one of the nation’s greatest icons.
The Presidency assured the family of its support in the funeral preparations, with further engagements expected in the coming days to celebrate the life and legacy of the highlife legend.
Daddy Lumba, whose career spanned more than three decades, is widely regarded as one of Ghana’s most influential musicians, with numerous hit songs that shaped the country’s contemporary highlife music.
